Welcome to the Department of Accounting and Business Analytics

Build expertise in financial reporting, data analysis and decision-making. Our programs equip students with the technical and strategic skills needed to navigate today’s complex business landscape. Spring Term 2025

This course will focus on the importance of knowing how data was collected and the limitations of the data collection process. The principles of ownership, control, access and possession of data will be defined and discussed. The course will explore Indigenous business case studies, understanding and mitigating bias, critical analysis of whose voices get amplified, and whose don't, and voices from a variety of authors, in the context of business analytics.

Programs

BCom in Accounting

Our accounting major goes beyond technical proficiency to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic analysis skills. With a solid foundation in financial and managerial accounting, auditing and taxation, students are well-prepared for careers in accounting, finance and beyond.

BCom in Business Technology Management (BTM)

BTM students learn how to analyze business processes, leverage data and implement technology solutions to solve real-world challenges. Graduates pursue careers as business analysts, IT consultants and technology managers, equipped to bridge the gap between business and technology in an increasingly digital world.

BCom in Operations Management (OM)

OM focuses on optimizing processes, managing resources, and improving efficiency across industries. Whether analyzing supply chains, designing service operations, or applying business analytics, OM students develop quantitative and strategic skills applicable to any business sector.

Honors Programs

Designed for high-achieving students, the BCom Honours programs provide the analytical and leadership skills needed to excel in professional accounting, consulting and operations roles. Honours graduates emerge as thought leaders, prepared for graduate studies or advanced careers in business.

Masters Programs

Our generalist MBA program provides accounting and business analytics concentrations. The Master of Accounting and Master of Management Analytics programs allow students to specialize further.

PhD Programs

Accounting PhD students explore the economic and behavioral impact of financial reporting, managerial decision-making and market structures. Operations & Information Systems PhD students develop expertise in operations management and business analytics, using data-driven insights to optimize business processes.


AI Centre for Decision Analytics

The AI Centre for Decision Analytics (AI4DA) bridges academia and industry to unlock AI’s full potential in decision-making. Through research, industry partnerships and training, we empower organizations to make informed, AI-driven decisions by integrating machine learning, optimization and advanced analytics into real-world applications.
